WHEN I SAY, “I AM A CHRISTIAN”
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”
I’m whispering, “I get lost!
That’s why I chose this way”
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I don’t speak with human pride
I’m confessing that I stumble—
Needing God to be my guide
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not trying to be strong
I’m professing that I’m weak
And pray for strength to carry on
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not bragging of success
I’m admitting that I’ve failed
And cannot ever pay the debt
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I don’t think I know it all
I submit to my confusion
Asking humbly to be taught
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I’m not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are all too visible
But God believes I’m worth it
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartache,
Which is why I seek His name
When I say, “I am a Christian”
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority…
I only know I’m loved

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62
This poem was sent to me via e-mail, and I loved it. It did not state the author’s name, however. A simple search later I found her and requested her permission to share the poem, which she graciously granted. As an aside, I hate when people take other’s work and send it around like that without giving credit, especially when the author was so easy to find. I do not necessesarily endorse her website, but I loved this poem and wanted to share it with you. Have a great, God-kissed day!

I Angie, I have read a few differant versions of WHEN I SAY, “I AM A CHRISTIAN” I have one, differant name of course and a very differant focus, but very positive and uplifting, I will post it one day. I suppose it depends on our faith and what we have learnt from our life experiences, we can be negative or positive and some people really don’t understand the wealth they have in the Lord or the Scriptures as lead by the Holy Spirit but it is their experience and no doubt truth for them but I’m very carful what I accept as God’s Truth..
Interesting that you found who wrote this one, I don’t believe in copyright for myself but it’s a choice. If I claim that what I write is lead by The Lord, then freely I have received freely I give and if anyone changes it then who cares it is no longer what I shared it’s theirs.
Others have said to me, but God had a copyright when He said you could not add or take away from the Scriptures…. Wow look at all the differant Translations and the changes that have been made and the errors, mostly not to deceive except the Cults versions, anyway God will show us error. What He was talking about was if we add or take away from Scripture to deceive, once again this is what Cults have done and they will be answerable for it. He also said we are not to peddle His Truth but to share it freely and this is my heart desire, it’s not about me but the Lord.
An interesting point, some who have translated the Bible are now giving permission for them to be used feely with just a few restrictions, where once they wouldn’t, perhaps they found that people were going back to the K.J.V which was translated from the original Greek and is not copyrighted, so can be used freely with no restrictions.

Hi, you should get together with my Dad. He is a KJV only person. I agree with him on some of the translations because they do not match the KJV in big ways. I use KJV myself, with possible forays into others for clarification.
I try not to use anyone else’s stuff without permission, because it belongs to them according to our law. I would want the same courtesy. If it helped someone along the way, however, I would freely give it. Some people make money on their posts, articles, etc., and when someone takes it, they lose money. In that case, it’s theft. There’s a lot of that out there today! I’m glad you’re willing to share freely with others.
I look forward to seeing your poem:) In Him, Angie

Hi Angie I enjoy sharing with you because we can reason together, mostly Blogging in Australia it is the same but True not always, people do not like to be shown they are in error and will even reject Scripture if it does not agree with their agenda.
Over the years I have received many stories , poems etc most do not have a name or referance on them and if I can’t find it I don’t worry I just share but if it does and it’s Truth then I use it with a referance to the Author but our copyrite Laws as you said are about making money, there is a lot of liberty if we don’t.
As for what Translation of the Scriptures are best, I have used more than a few over the 30 years I have been a believer but Jesus is our only Teacher and His Truth is written on our heart and mind so we do indeed reconise error as He empowers us, but I have found less in the K.J.V.
With the poam I have that is like yours but not of course the same, I thought I might look up the Scripture referance for each statement before I post it, I really could not feel at peace if I shared error, unless I use it as an example.
Thanks again Angie – Christian Love Anne.

“Jesus is our only Teacher and His Truth is written on our heart and mind” and that’s enough said!
Very true. My dad tends toward legalism in some areas, but his heart is right. I don’t like NIV because of several reasons, including some wrong interpretations of scripture. I use the Holman a lot personally, but since I memorized in KJV, I like to stick with it.
