I know this sounds silly, but I’ve had days where someone’s smile, helped me. Just one smile made a difference. i guess I was really down. Strange how we forget what a simple gift can do.

It doesn’t sound silly to me. A smile is a gift from God that we can freely pass on and still have enough left over. I’ve always been a smiler, but I’ve learned to be more intentional about it. Yours may be the only smile someone sees on any given day (or longer). Smiles give us hope that things will get better 🙂

Oh, I love this post. The song, all the quotes…and the reminder of when my friend was in hospice. It turned out to be two days before she died, and she was quiet on her bed, solemn, staring out the window. A woman came by with her St. Bernard (I learned later that she does this frequently). He was the biggest, saddest-eyed St. Bernard you can imagine. But he wore fabric “saddle bags” stuffed with cute, soft stuffed animals. She brought him in and said to my friend, “Can you please help Bernie? He’s just so sad, but if you’ll take one of the stuffed animals, it will make his so happy. Could you help him, please?”
When my friend reached out an took a little pink bunny, Bernie’s tail wagged, he wiggled all over, and I swear his big jowls lifted in the corners into a smile.”
My friend returned the smile, and Bernie came closer to her bed, still smiling, and laid his head on her hand. The smile was contagious, even though we were all crying by then. It was beautiful.

Thank you Marylin. What a wonderful story!!! I’ve seen a dog smile, so I know it happens. So glad your friend got to have that moment. It’s during those times that we need the smiles even more! 🙂

Hi Angie I finally made it my Conputer was down, but I will return when we get home from holidays, this will be short and sweet and yes given with a 😀
For me a smile must come from the heart and if it does then no one has to tell us to smile, it will be spontanous, if it isen’t forget it, being real is the deal.
God tells us to cry with each other not just to rejoice in the good times and there is a times for everything … smilling for sure but also for tears and of course Laughter as well. 😆
See you when we get back grom our Holidays.
Christian Love Anne.

It makes a difference when people smile. I live in New England and while people smile here, smiles to strangers are not as common. This is why many consider the people here to be somewhat cold. You are right. Smile everyday.
